The Nordics + Canada: North Atlantic’s New Alliances?
13.08.2026 kl. 15:00 - 16:00
Bakgården (Nedre Tyholmsvei 16)
Canada is looking toward Norway and the Nordic region, and we are looking back with great interest. There is talk of strengthened Nordic cooperation, while state visits between Norway and Canada point to a renewed mutual interest. When the United States threatened to invade Greenland, Canada, together with the Nordic countries, was clear in its support for Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark. Given today’s geopolitical situation, a less ice-covered Arctic Ocean, the need for maritime security, and growing interest in mineral extraction and critical minerals, this is perhaps not surprising.
But what do we actually expect from such a new alliance in the North? And what about the United States and Europe? Russia? China?
